At the Museum of Illusions Istanbul, seeing is not always believing.
Located inside the historic Narmanlı Han on İstiklal Avenue, the museum invites children and adults to experiment with perception through optical illusions, interactive rooms and visual puzzles.
A Museum You Can Step Into
This is not a museum where visitors are expected to observe everything from a distance. Many of the exhibits invite families to move, participate and become part of the illusion.
Visitors can enter rooms that alter their sense of scale, explore reflections that appear to continue forever and experience a vortex tunnel that challenges the relationship between sight and balance.
Every illusion creates a small mystery: Is the room moving, or are you? Has someone really changed size, or has the space changed around them?
The Science Behind the Surprise
Behind each surprising image is a lesson about how the eyes and brain work together.
Children discover that vision is not simply a perfect recording of the world. The brain uses light, colour, distance, patterns and previous experiences to interpret what it sees and it can sometimes be tricked.
This makes the museum both playful and educational. An unusual family photograph can also become the starting point for a conversation about perspective, perception and the science of sight.

The Museum of Illusions offers an experience shared equally by children and adults. Everyone sees the same room, but not everyone understands it in the same way.
Families can solve visual puzzles together, compare what they think they see and capture photographs that appear to break the rules of reality.
