Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure
June 25 – December 15, 2026
Sakıp Sabancı Müzesi
Bringing together a comprehensive selection of works by one of the most influential and pioneering figures in contemporary art, Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure brings the artist’s practice, spanning from the 1960s to the present, to Istanbul.
Comprising works produced across a range of media including poetry, drawing, photography, video, sculpture and installation the exhibition focuses on the concepts of participation imagination and collective experience that lie at the heart of Ono’s artistic practice.

Yoko Ono’s approach, which positions the viewer not merely as an observer but as an active participant in the work, invites a reconsideration of the boundaries between art and life. The exhibition features iconic works that have shaped art history such as Grapefruit, Cut Piece, Sky Ladders, and Mend Piece, alongside large-scale installations and participatory projects from the artist’s later periods.

Using thought as a creative medium, Ono’s works build connections between individual experience and collective memory while addressing universal themes such as peace, freedom, empathy, and collaboration from a contemporary perspective. Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure invites visitors not only to view the works but also to complete them, transform them, and become part of a shared creative process.
