Rustem Pasha Mosque
A Historic Mosque in Istanbul
Rustem Pasha Mosque is a historic mosque located in the Tahtakale neighborhood of Fatih, Istanbul.
It was built by Mimar Sinan for Damat Rustem Pasha, the Grand Vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent and the husband of his daughter Mihrimah Sultan. The historic mosque is covered in tiles, including the base of the dome. The tiles, which are dominated by tulip motifs, are considered to be some of the most successful examples of Ottoman tile art.
