Located in the Emirgan district of Istanbul, the museum is affiliated with Sabancı University and is housed in a historic building called Atlı Köşk, which was built in 1927 by Italian architect Edouard De Nari and later became the property of Sakıp Sabancı. Opened to the public in 2002, Sakıp Sabancı Museum has hosted many different exhibitions since then.
The museums permanent collection includes a variety of works from the Ottoman era, such as calligraphy, painting, books, and letters. Temporary exhibitions are also held, showcasing works by world-renowned artists.
