It is one of the most important monumental structures in the city and is the signature work of Mimar Sinan. The mosque was built by Suleiman the Magnificent in memory of his son Şehzade Mehmed, who died at the age of 22. The historic structure, which is Mimar Sinans masterpiece, also houses the tomb of the prince.
The tomb, which is filled with colorful tiles, houses the tombs of Şehzade Mehmed in the middle, Şehzade Cihangir on the right, and Hümaşah Sultan on the left. The tomb of Rüstem Pasha is also located on the left side of the princes tomb. The tomb of Destari Mustafa Pasha is located in the outer courtyard.
